Insurance & Cosmetic Surgery

We cannot speak for all insurance policies.  However, our experience is that insurances will not cover procedures done for cosmetic purposes.  Deciding what constitutes "cosmetic" can sometimes be difficult, but most insurance policies state that there must be a "functional defect", which means the problem prevents you from performing some function that is necessary for your life or livelihood.  The only exception to that rule, as far as we know, is breast reconstruction following a mastectomy or lumpectomy for cancer.  If you and Dr. Brantner feel a procedure should be covered by insurance, we will certainly work with you in trying to obtain approval, however, we cannot ever guarantee what your insurance company will or will not do.
