Facelift

Facelift, or RHYTIDECTOMY, is a surgical procedure done by plastic surgeons to improve visible signs of aging on the face and neck.  As individuals age, the skin and muscles of the face begin to lose tone.  The facelift will improve the most visible signs of aging by tightening deeper structures, re-draping the skin of the face and neck, and removing selected areas of fat.  It can be performed as a single procedure, or to obtain a total facial rejuvenation, it can be done in conjunction with other ancillary procedures such as a browlift, liposuction, eyelid surgery, and/or nasal surgery.  Additional procedures increase operative time, amount of swelling, possible complications, immediate and long-term recovery time.

Facelift surgery is individualized for each patient.  The best candidates for facelift surgery are individuals whose bony structure is well defined and, in spite of the fact that the skin on their face and neck has begun to sag, it has maintained elasticity.  While a facelift will not stop the normal aging process, you will most likely always look younger than others in your age group who have never had surgical intervention.
