Breast Reduction

REDUCTION MAMMAPLASTY (BREAST REDUCTION) is a surgery performed often by plastic surgeons for the relief of symptoms associated with the weight of very large, dense breasts.   Women who have large breasts may experience a variety of problems from the weight and size of their breasts, such as neck, back and shoulder pain, headaches and skin irritation.  The best candidates are those who are mature enough to understand the procedure and have realistic expectations about the results.  There are a variety of different surgical techniques used for the reshaping and lifting of the female breast.

In many cases, this is a procedure that can be covered by insurance, if the patient meets the criteria stipulated by the company.  Often, you can go the insurance company website for information regarding what they require to meet "medical necessity" guidelines, or call the customer service number on your card.  Our office staff can also assist by giving you the general guidelines followed by most insurance carriers.  We can't guarantee what your company may or may not do - but we will try to assist you in any way we can.  What we can tell you is that it will usually take several months to develop the documentation they normally require.
