BRACHIOPLASTY is a surgical procedure done by plastic surgeons to remove excess skin and fatty tissue from UPPER ARM. BRACHIOPLASTY is not a surgical treatment for weight loss. Obese individuals who intend to lose weight should postpone all forms of body contouring surgery until they have been able to maintain their weight loss. A variety of techniques are used by plastic surgeons to accomplish a brachioplasty, and it can be combined with other forms of body contouring surgery, including suction-assisted lipectomy, which can be done at the same time. This procedure often follows weight loss, particularly if the weight loss has been significant. Many bariatric weight loss patients ( Gastric By-pass or Banding ) will need this procedure when they have reached their weight loss goal. It is slightly possible, but not likely, that your insurance will consider this a "medically necessary" procedure. Therefore, it is unlikely they will cover it. They will have the greatest amount and most up-to-date information available to help educate you about the procedure, and help you decide if this surgery is right for you.
